This is the type of journalism that I live for! I have a few pairs I ordered in the U.S. but looking forward to our trip to Venice in February to stock up. Are you aware of any brands that would allow to tour the workshops to see how they are made?

You will love the Friulane shops in Venice!! Most of the shoes are made from artisans up in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region which is next to Venice’s region.

Now I want a furlane field trip! This shop has great social media, maybe they would let us in ; https://www.calzatureparutto.it/?

Ohhh I love their branding 😍😍 and I’ve seen the name before. They must do wholesale to some shoe stores in Italy…adding to my list!!

I’ll reach out and ask! If they do it, let’s go together!

Try Gondolina in Venice.

That’s it! You have convinced me, Gabriella! I am picking up some friulane next time I’m in Milan. Our new work office is in Brera so let me check if these places you recommend are nearby!! 💕

Hi Lolly! What an incredible place to work! 😍😍 Casa del Bianco is such a Milanese institution for even things like PJs and day-to-day knitwear (a must stop!!) and I do truly adore Vibi Venezia…you will love both!!

Oooh Vibi Venezia is only a 10’ walk from the office 🥳😈

Leaving for Italy and this was exactly what I needed! As a bigger footed girl, I wanted to look up ahead of time what places would have my size. Thank you so much for putting this great list together!

Oh I am so happy to hear this!! I feel you on the foot thing. Mine are wide and women’s shoes don’t fit but usually in Italy they have a men’s 38 that fit! Like a friulane or even a loafer. I hope you have a fantastic trip!

Thank you for this list! I just got back from Italy and went to Calzature Campo Marzio in Rome. I purchased the most stunning light blue friulanes, wore them for the rest of the trip (extremely comfy) and loved them so much I went back at the end of the trip and got two more pairs. An elegant olive gold for pre-autumn and a fun red pink for my sister. The quality is unmatched and the style is incredibly fun and chic. Couldn't be more grateful for this rec!

Oh this makes me SO incredibly happy to read!!! I know exactly the light blue ones you’re talking about because I tried them on a few weeks ago! Seriously such a beautiful shade and I’m so happy you found them to be so beautiful like I do! The brand they sell is some of the best on the market! Xxx

I love the fun fact about the recycled bike tires, that’s so interesting!

Right?? It’s one of my favorite parts of the shoe!

Hi Gabriella,

Wondering if you have any suggestions for shopping in Le Marche and Umbria? Friulane of course, but also cashmere. We will be staying in Ascoli Piscino. Fabriano and Gubbio. Thank you!
